There are many skills that day traders must possess; these skills range from reading charts to calculating risks, but nothing is as important as having the right psychology from the get-go. In my experiences through trade rooms, social media platforms, & news outlets, are that most short-term traders are dictated by emotions rather than logic.
So with that said, psychology plays a large & underappreciated role in the life of a day trader, given all the many “Cognitive Dissonance” affecting human behavior. And many of these same biases carry over into the way we behave with money in general.
